From Fringe to Star Trek: J.J. Abrams

I was dreading writing this but the first step to a recovery is to accept it and move on with your life.
I am so very upset with the Fringe producers and writers but most of all I'm so angry at J.J.Abrams, for coming up with a very cleverly thought series and abandoning it towards the end. It's so apparent the lack of his attention starts from the beginning of season 4.
The final episode S05 x E13 An Enemy of Fate was so unfitting for the glorious-ness of the series that it made me feel uncomfortable as a fan. Yeah there were one or two scenes that I liked, but overall it was a bad mid-season episode let alone the series finale.

Actually, my anger towards him was fueled with him going back on his word; that he was never going to be involved with a Star Wars production. Yeah never say never J.J.... He is now the director of the new production of the Star Wars movies after the Disney merge.

First Glimpse at Catching Fire

I'm not expecting much from the movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, as someone who loved the books, but I still get excited to see how they put some of the things I envisioned in my mind in to the big screen.

Now that the first images from the set of Catching Fire are released on Entertainment Weekly, the producers officially started the buzz for the screening on November, 22nd. With Jennifer Lawrence's Oscar nomination on top of, Golden Globe award, I think now is just about time to remind everyone that her new movie is on the way.

And not only one new movie but three, Mockingjay has been announced to be filmed as two parts - completely unnecessary if you ask me but that's a discussion for later.

*** The rest of the post contains heavy SPOILERs on Catching Fire the book and the movie. ***

The Hunger Games: Book vs Movie

Have lost your self in the The Hunger Games hype last year?
Well I have, and I didn't even know there were going to be movies! One of my friends recommended it for me, than a year later I found her mail mentioning the books and picked up the first one, on the third day I was climbing walls, eager and sad to finish the third one.

When people heard I've read the books, almost all of them asked how were them and if they had to read the books before seeing the movie. Well...

The Hobbit A Truly Unexpected Journey (Review)

I've finally seen the movie last week. It was as expected awesome, the story however was truly 'unexpected'. I would have thought Peter Jackson would stay more loyal to The Hobbit but what I think happened was he thought this series of movies would be the last of Tolkien's work to ever be filmed, so he worked a lot of little stories from The Silmarillion into the plot of The Hobbit. I liked it.

Snowflakes - Part 2: Geekiness

Tardis and Doctor coming out it with Fez and Sonic Screwdriver
This is the second part of my snowflakes, you can find the first ones here, it's mostly snowflakes of names of my friends I designed.

These however are strictly geeky ones. I've put the sites I got the ideas from at the end but if you're interested in making some yourself, I'd say just create your own ones, the satisfaction you get when you unfold one you've designed is so much more fulfilling. I've hung some of them on my windows, you can see in the pictures here.

I liked these the best, there were failed attempts too, so these aren't the only ones. There is a technique, making very narrow gaps, strings that I just can't seem to do. Maybe my papers aren't suitable for those.

The Hobbit Update: Production

This is a story of how  a Baggins had an adventure...

That is how The Hobbit begins... Well it's not literally the first thing
in the book but it's on the second page and I think this way it has a more dramatic way to start things.

The first thing I thought was some events are probably going to be highlighted more than they were in the book, such as the troll scene and definitely Rivendell parts. They barely make up a chapter in the book but judging by the trailers, we will see more of Elrond than the six pages mentioned in the book.

According to TheOneRing.Net, director Peter Jackson said "We expended out the universe a lot more so that we weren't just staying with Bilbo and the Dwarves on their journey, as the book pretty much does. We started to expand some of what's happening to Gandalf outside of that journey."

That is great news, 'cause I think we will see much more of Gandalf's and Radagast's interaction than the book mentions.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

This Christmas will be an even more special one than the others. The Lord of the Rings fans are going wild because the 'prequel' The Hobbit is finally hitting the big screen. Judging by the trailers, this is going to be one goose bump inducing experience. As one of the people who was introduced (of course by my brother) to the Middle Earth with The Hobbit, I am extra excited. But I must admit I forgot about the details of the book as I read it when I was 11, almost 12 years ago. I am looking forward to change that in the following 6 days because only a week later, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is here for our consideration. I have been in this strange mood to watch the trilogy again for the last couple of weeks, I even started wearing my Evenstar pendant unaware of the actual release date. I guess my body is more aware of my Elvish side than my brain...

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

Hello all!
I know it's been quite a while since I last put an entry but here I am...
So since my last entry the most significant thing I can say

is definitely the latestHarry Potter movie 'Harry Potter and the The Deathly Hallows: Part 1'. Now for the movie all I can say is they started from good and getting better and better in every movie. As a big fan of the book series I can say that everything is just like I imagined and in some features even better. That is a big thing for those who are as hard to please as me in watching the movies of the books you love. So here is the trivia for the Part 1; The book that Dumbledore leaves Hermione in his will, 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard',is actually printed as a separate book by the author herself J.K.Rowling, and is quite well written as the other Harry Potter books.

You can find 'The Tale of the Three Brothers' that featured in the movie in a very well-made animation, which tells the legend of the three 'Deathly Hallows'. The exact book from the movie is this leather bound collector, which was a Christmas gift to me from my brother, is actually really fun to read too.

Not All Who Wander Are Lost

As we are going for the theme for the blog on the first entries, it would be a shame if I did not include the great J.R.R.Tolkien here. It is quite amazing that he created a world, created creatures that are legend and became a legend himself but although he has written countless lines for the trilogy and its background, he has summarized his work The Lord of the Rings with 8 lines:

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

I found this the other day and thought it was perfect for this post. It may be little too fan-girlly for some, but for those who adore the Middle Earth it could be quite sentimental. You can find it in different colors at myCurlyCue.com
